Bayahibe con Edward
“They ask me how I show people Bayahibe from a wheelchair. I tell them — let the good times roll. This village has more life in it than most people walk past in a lifetime.”
I was born and raised in Bayahibe, back when it was just a fishing village and everyone knew everyone. I started giving tours in 2020 because I saw tourists passing through without ever meeting the real place. I also run @recuerdos_de_bayahibe — an Instagram account where I share old photos of Bayahibe and the stories behind the people and places that shaped this village. Every tour, every post — it's all the same mission: make sure Bayahibe's history isn't forgotten.
Why we recommend them
Edward knows every corner of Bayahibe — its history, its people, its hidden spots, and the stories behind all of them. His cultural walking tour and his Instagram account @recuerdos_de_bayahibe are both windows into the real village: the old fishing families, the local characters, the traditions, and the community that still makes this place special. He is also one of Bayahibe's most dedicated community figures, organising clean-ups and preserving local history that would otherwise be forgotten.
A 3-hour walk through the soul of Bayahibe — the iconic village sign, La Rosa de Bayahibe (the country's official flower), 7 natural spring ponds, snorkeling at Magallanes, the Corazón de Bayahibe photo spot, ice cream at Doña Tuti's, a visit to the historical church Divina Pastora from 1925, and the famous sunset lookout point. Available 9 AM–12 PM or 4–7 PM.
