Best Pizza in Bayahibe & Dominicus: 3 Spots You Need to Try

Delicious pizza from a local restaurant in Bayahibe

Pizza in Paradise? It's Better Than You Think

If you're heading to Bayahibe or Dominicus and wondering whether you'll find good pizza, the answer is a strong yes. The area has a significant Italian community, and that influence shows up in the food. You won't be stuck eating resort buffet pizza here.

After many nights of delivery and pickup (someone had to do it), here are the three spots we like to get our pizza at.

1. Frontoni Pizza — Best Delivery in Bayahibe

Frontoni is the go-to spot when you want quality pizza without leaving your hotel or rental. Their delivery is fast and the pizza arrives hot.

What to order: The Amatriciana pizza. It's their standout, and for good reason. If you like bold, savory flavors, this is the one.

Frontoni keeps things simple and consistent. No surprises, just solid pizza every time. At the time of writing this post, Frontoni was not accepting dine-in customers.

2. Vesu Pizzeria — Best Crust in Town

Vesu is where you go when you care about the dough. Their crust is soft, fluffy, and airy. There's nothing like it.

This is a sit-down kind of spot in a type of "food truck village". So if you're with a group and not everyone want's pizza, there's other options too.

3. Manuel de la Cueva — Quick and Delicious in Dominicus

If you're staying in Dominicus and don't feel like making the short trip to Bayahibe, Manuel de la Cueva has you covered. They're located in the heart of Dominicus so never too far to walk to if you're staying in the center. The service is quick and the quality is high for a more casual spot.

What to order: The Primavera pizza. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want after a day at the beach. It is light, without mozzarella, and refreshing.

Local Tip: Pay in Cash

Here's something most visitors don't know. When you pay by card at restaurants in the Dominican Republic, you'll typically get hit with a 10% service charge plus 18% ITBIS (the local tax). That can add almost 30% to your bill.

Pay in cash and you'll usually skip those charges entirely. It's not a scam or a trick — it's just how things work here. Bring some pesos or US dollars and your pizza dinner stays a lot cheaper.

Use WhatsApp to Order

This is a big one. In Bayahibe and Dominicus, WhatsApp is how most restaurants operate. Forget Google listings, Yelp, or even their Instagram — if you want to place a delivery or pickup order, you'll almost always do it through WhatsApp.

Most of these spots don't have a website with an online menu. Their WhatsApp status or chat is where you'll find the most up-to-date info: daily specials, menu changes, hours, and whether they're even open that day. Save their numbers when you arrive, send a message, and you'll get a quick reply.

It's also the easiest way to ask about ingredients, customize your order, or confirm delivery times. If you're not used to ordering food over WhatsApp, you'll get the hang of it fast — just text them like you would a friend.

One more thing: many restaurants close on certain weekdays, especially during low season. Schedules shift depending on the time of year and how busy the area is, so don't assume a place is open just because it was last week. A quick WhatsApp message before you head out saves you the walk.

Getting to Bayahibe

If you're flying into Punta Cana International Airport, Bayahibe is about a 1-hour drive south. There's no public transportation route from the airport, so you'll need a private transfer.

Book your transfer to Bayahibe and you'll be eating pizza by dinner time.
